Happy Memorial Day! Cheers, Happy Reading !!

MEMORIAL DAY Just Around the Corner : Victoria Day ( Canada ) Just Passed :
lots to celebrate, anticipate, look forward to. Let's do some of it together as
we have the " liquid cheer " in spades to add. With the whole world exploding
with " new " ideas of how to change things up and celebrate and experiment :
well, it's an amazing time for us all and as I said last week it's hard to keep
up anymore as everything gets broadcast now pretty much as it is happening.

DO ANY OF YOU STILL REMEMBER the days when you had to wait for the mail to come
with the news, the boat to arrive within a week or two, the truck crossing the
country to take between a week or two, depending? I , for one used to like
those lag times to catch my breath. Today is is almost impossible to catch
one's breath. I catch mine in my car to and from work and home. As much as I
hate driving those are my " five minutes of peace " so to speak. Did any of you
read the story of Mrs Large the hippopotamus to your children when they were
growing up and all she wanted was " five minutes of peace"?!? I loved that
story, so did my wife. We may have loved it more than our children did because
we sure could relate to Mrs Large.

POOLS WILL OPEN and hopefully the sun will shine on Memorial Day Weekend for us
all and we have some wonderful wines to share with you, right off the bat like
the excellent dry white, slightly-sparkling , low alcohol ( 9% alcohol by
volume ) Portuguese Vinho Verde :

1) SANTOLA Vinho Verde from VINHOS MESSIAS ( $7.99, from Mealhada,
Portugal ) is a prefect hot-weather wine to enjoy this weekend and we will
order extra to be sure we do not run out. It is light and fresh enough, the "
bit " of sparkle is nice, too as that serves to refresh as well as add an
element of celebration to any event.

ALSO :

2) Spanish Tempranillo , the DOMAINE DE ADIRA from the Bodega DONA FELISA
( the famous grape variety from Spain , $9.99 for the 750ml, $14.99 for the
1.5ml bottle size )  is another perfect dry, smooth, silky red wine to enjoy
for Memorial Day Weekend! It may be chilled slightly and served with or without
a meal, inside or outside. It does not matter. It may also be served with food
or without. It will complement pretty much everything. It's so versatile and
that's what I love almost as much as the silky, lovely-textured taste and
mouth-feel. This is a pretty amazing Spanish red for the money and we are
delighted to offer it to you. There is no bite or burn, it's easy and will make
a GREAT SANGRIA, too. You simply must check this lovely Tempranillo out and see
what you all think.

3) 100% Dry French Loire Valley Chenin Blanc from the LE HAUT VIGNOT ,
2010 ( $9.99, appelation Anjou controlee, 11% alcohol by volume, for more info
go to : www.LVDH.com ) that Sam Gessner tasted with you all this past Saturday
would make a great , refreshing and flavorful dry white when you grill or eat
outside. It's got charm and flavor and good mineral overtones to keep everyone
skipping right along to the tune of it's special Chenin Blanc taste.

4) 100% Torrontes indigenous dry white, 2010 from CARELLI 34 Latitude from
south of the Tunuyan river in Mendoza, Argentina ( On Special for $9.99, 13%
alcohol by volume, for more info go to : www.bodegacarelli.com.ar ). White wine
that " presents a pale yellow colour with steely tones. It has a perfumed aroma
which highlights the expression of the varietal Torrontes ". I agree with this
and so am happy to include it. The Torrontes grape originally came from Spain
but this Torrontes has been cloned enough that it has an " extra special
something " in it's bouquet and flavors that is just that much more special,
out there and engaging. You need to try some : it will be great to drink into
the weekend nights as the sun's warmth leaves us but we still wish to be
outside relaxing and enjoying family and friends.

5) Garnacha ( same as Grenache, $13.99, 14% alcohol by volume, ) called ZA
ZA, this 2011 Spanish dry rose from the Campo de Borja region is both a perfect
party wine as well as one to complement a meal. Really dry with a distinct
strawberry and floral bouquet, and on the palate it's simply mouth-watering
with brilliant juicy fruit accents in the extroverted flavors that jump right
out of the wine glass and dance on your tongue. It's way worth the extra money.

SOMETHING EXTRA SPECIAL :

6)  White Port from the Portuguese house BORGES ( never bought or
represented by the British like WARRES, TAYLOR-FLADGATE, FONSECA, and more ),
this white port ( $11.99, 19% alcohol by volume ) will be great this weekend
when you add some tonic or soda water to it and squeeze some fresh or lemon or
lime into it these weekend afternoons. When the sun leaves us in the evening
chill and serve it without adding anything. Both ways it is an absolute delight
and will please many of you.

7) Cabernet Sauvignon " Cherokee Lane " , 201 from California's Lodi
region and made by TORTOISE CREEK WINES ( $13.99, 13.9% alcohol by volume , for
more information go to : www.tortoisecreekwines.com ). This past Friday
Christina our local rep for Winesellers, Inc tasted it out with our customers
and it was a big hit for those of you looking for some " classically great "
California Cabernet Sauvignon that never loses track of the Cabernet fruit and
still has plenty of spice and flavor and character! It's a beautifully-balanced
wine and I liked it quite a bit and am thrilled to have it here in the store.
It's a great bottle when you grill or barbecue something.
ALSO :  " The Lodi Rules are California's first 3rd party certified
sustainable wine growing standards, designed to lead to measurable improvements
in environmental health of the surrounding ecosystem, society-at-large, and
wine quality ". WOW, LOVE this. Let's always do ALL THAT WE CAN for our
environment, our wines, our society. Bravo and cheers to the Lodi region of
California.

8)  Bonarda 201 from Argentina's Mendoza region from ZUCCARDI ( $15.99,
14% alcohol by volume, ) this SERIE A is made in the Italian way from where it
originally comes. Argentina has always had a lot of this Italian grape variety
the Bonarda planted and here it is earthy, pithy, a touch rustic and very
flavorful with lots of " highs and lows " and some really distinct flavors that
spread wide and cry for a meal like the one we will all enjoy this Memorial Day
weekend. It's great when you grill, marinate and also barbecue. It's a
wonderful medium-bodied food wine at 14% alcohol by volume. The wine is tasty
and balanced and has a really nice finish, too.

BUT HEY, Let's Not Forget Our Beer & Liquor :

BEERS, CIDERS  From SANTOS :

1) Verloren  " Gose " From SAMUEL ADAMS is Ale brewed with Coriander and
Salt ( On Special for $5.99, 6% alcohol by volume, 1 Pt. , 6 Fl. Oz., Batch #1
) : " A link to the ales of Saxony that had all but vanished ... with a base of
an unfiltered wheat ale ... flavor is brought to life by an unexpected touch of
salt for a mineral quality, and coriander for a peppery spice ". NEW!

2) Aloha Series from WAILUA, a Wheat Ale brewed with Passion Fruit from
the KONA Brewing Company ( $8.99 On Special for a 12-ounce 6-pack of bottles,

and we are really excited to have them here. Come and check them both out. They
are perfect to enjoy for this Memorial Day weekend.

Today Is Earth Day, 4/22/2014 : Celebrate! Drink Good Wine & Beer and Liquor, Too While You Survey Your Domaines!

Cleveland Park Wine Cleveland Park Beer, Liquor & Wine
Featuring a wide, international selection of fine wines, micro-brews and spirits

SUCH A TREAT : EARTH DAY TODAY. Just think about all that we treasure and love
about our earth and what joy and pleasure it brings us all. Amazing really. Just
yesterday I was cleaning out and bagging the leaves from the flower beds at our
home. It's sometimes back-breaking work and yet it looks so good once it is
done.

TODAY our garden and yard at home will be breathing easier today as I cleaned,
and arranged and watered and it all is easier now for all the new growth to poke
up and out and grow up and kiss the sun's rays as often as possible.

WITH OUR FIRE PIT a lot of the fallen branches and twigs and dried wild grass,
etcetera has been burned along with firewood and warmed us as I grilled and we
sipped our wine : some of the BARBI Umbrian Italian dry rose On Special for
$8.99, and some of the ' new ' vintage JUSTIN Vineyard's red Cabernet Sauvignon
that our local rep Donna Quinn left me recently. The BARBI was so crisp and tart
and dry and flavorful : the JUSTIN was round and medium-to-light-bodied and
fruit-forward, balanced and overall quite pleasing. Nice. Thanks.

I AM MOST PROUD of our plaque that we have outside ( our daughter got it for us
and it is a treasure of mine as I love to garden and spend time outside ) that
states that we are a friendly natural habitat as we use no herbicides or
pesticides at all. Have to find other ' natural ' ways to deal with the Japanese
beetles that love the delicate , pale old-fashioned tiny pink roses that we have
thanks to my mother that gave us the plant years ago at our old home and which
we brought when we moved. Thanks Mom!

SO HAPPY EARTH DAY, enjoy it, what are you all doing to celebrate it today?

WE HAVE PLENTY of choices here for you all to celebrate Earth Day later when you
get off. Perhaps a picnic, spend time outside. if it's breezy and cold perhaps
some porter or stout or some port? We have selections of all of those.
IF IT'S RAINING LATER today on Earth Day perhaps you need something a bit more
warming as you return from a walk in the rain : some dessert wine, some bourbon
or even some good, flavorful apple cider like our local CIDERWORKS, Jefferson ,
Maryland hard apple ciders, especially the Jefferson Bottle that they make that
is aged for awhile in bourbon barrels? That will work, that will be splendid if
it's cold and drizzly later.

SO GLAD that the Boston Marathon went off well yesterday and that we have many
happy stories and stories of personal triumph to listen to, watch and learn
about this year, one year after the terrible tragedy there.

SPRING FINALLY seems to be all around us, everything is so verdant and
blossoming and shades of yellows , pinks, lavenders and greens. I love that, we
all love that, makes us all feel good to see things pushing up from the ground
and the bare brown tree limbs all now covered in the most delicate shades of
baby greens.

I AM SURE I WILL be out soon drawing in my backyard as I like to do.

ON EASTER I drove my family to the National Portrait Gallery where we went to
see the show on the book and movie called " The Monument Men " and I thought of
our customer and friend Amy that works there on all the Hollywood and film
exhibits and shows. Amy we loved what we saw as we walked towards the Monument
Men exhibit : the whole museum is quite inspiring. And to be in Washington D.C.
on a drop-dead gorgeous day and to see all the zillions of paddle boats out on
the Tidal Basin, and what looked like a whole group of enthusiastic visitors
frolicking under a group of Cheery trees, taking pictures, laughing - all pretty
wonderful. Loved the experience, the drive and the show at the National Portrait
Gallery : what a treasure that is for us all, and free. Now that's special.

YOU ALL KNOW THAT it's EARTH DAY today, right? Well, it is.

YOU MUST STOP BY today and see what we still have some of - a very little bit
of - in stock specially for you!

YES, FOR YOU, ONLY YOU ... I got the idea just now as I remembered last night's
episode of " The Voice " and where Usher said to one of the singer's that they
had to make every person listening that the song was just for them and no one
else. I like that. That's the way we should all be made to feel : special. We
are special, we know it, nice when others say it to us. Makes us smile, makes us
feel good about ourselves.

YOU MUST STOP BY now or after work on this Tuesday, April 24th, 2012 as the sun
starts to warm us back up and creep from behind the clouds of the last two days
and the cold, brrrr - too! It's nice to start warming back up and drying up as
we think about our time away from work when we can relax and recharge our worn
batteries for yet another day. It's always about balance and of course
eating-drinking well, getting plenty of sleep and getting as much out of each
and every moment as is humanly possible for each and everyone of us.

WE ALL MARCH TO THE BEAT OF A DIFFERENT DRUMMER and  so it is up to each of us
to find our own personal rhythm and balance. We can help, of course at least
with all the liquid refreshments. Ean, Ravi, Santos and Tony ( me ) are more
than ready to assist you in this most complex and daunting task of matching you
all up to a better balance and situation as we recommend those beers, liquors
or wines that may in fact really add some special to your lives.

FEEL FREE & COMFORTABLE to ask all anything. That's why we are here to assist
you with whatever situations you find yourself in from wanting to thank someone
for feeding your cat or dog while you were away with a gift of a bottle of
wine, planning a birthday, wedding, block party, school auction, or even if you
are running to raise money for breast cancer research and need a bottle or
more. We are here to help you with any situation that you find yourselves in
and need some help. Most situations are fairly easy for us to get you through
as we have done this now a million times or more. Who's counting anymore?!?

THE NICE WEATHER JUST MAKES me as I am sure it does you all feel better. Here
are some of the things that I " discovered " as I walked up and down the length
of our store. I mentioned to Ravi that he had quite a few " new " things on our
shelves and I had to put some back as there were too many to write about in
just this one email. But I will try anyway as Santos, too had quite a few " new
" beers in both cans and bottles. Ravi showed me a " new " 16-ounce can from
Budweiser/ MICHELOB that looks to be a lite beer with citrus flavors added to
it : much like the " panache " that you have in the Paris bars that are so
refreshing in warmer weather. Ravi said that we would all sample this can and

WINE From EAN & TONY :

WHITE :

1) 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Saint-Bris's CLOTHILDE DAVENNE, this 2010 (
On Special for $16.99 ) is made in the Burgundy region jsut by Chablis and is
the only Sauvignon Blanc made. It's flavorful and fresh and with great mineral
and even touches of citrus. Medium-bodied, with both character and enough
flavor to stand it's own against many a well-seasoned dish. You should try it :
it's fun and offers a whole lot and there's such a fun story, too. Discover the
only Burgundy Sauvignon Blanc : from Saint Bris.

2) " V " 2011 Verdelho HERDADE DO ESPORAO ( $15.99, since 1267, 100%
Verdelho indigenous grapes ) : " This variety was planted in 2001 on our estate
on complex stony soils consisting of granite, schist and basalt... ". It's
pretty exceptional this flavorful and forward and richly-laden white that
bursts with sunshine and freshness and is great to sip all by itself or enjoy
with a meal. It will warm you even with the cold breeze and the dampness.
Danielle poured it here this past Saturday.

3)  Pinot Gris 2010 2010 from PEREGRINE in Central Otago ( On Special for
$23.99, regularly $29.99, www.peregrinewines.co.nz , 14% alcohol by volume ) is
amazingly rich and layered, textured and smooth. It really is a treat to sip
with or without a meal. It's so versatile and so pleasing all by itself. We
have been selling it for years ever since owner and wine-maker Greg Hay came to
taste us years ago when Mike Martin was here, going back to 2004 0r 2005 I
believe I will have to check my notes. We have also sold the Pinot Noir and the
Riesling. You simply must try some - it's superb, simply a delight and so
appealing.

4) Vinho Verde 2011  de Portugal called ANJOS ( $8.99 ) was tasted here
this past Saturday afternoon by Danielle and see that we sold quite a bit of
it. It was perfect for this past Saturday as it was still sunny and warm and
with only 9.5% alcohol by volume and with a bot of sparkle it is a perfect
hot-weather dry white. Of course on Sunday and Monday it was cold and wet and
it would not be as ideal. But the heat and the humidity are coming and this dry
, slightly sparkling, low-alcohol white with clear glass and a colorful and
floral label will be all the rage : especially at under $10 a bottle!

5) Sauvignon Blanc 2010 from Chile's Maipo Valley ( $17.99, 13% alcohol by
volume, www.webcodeff.cl ) by  DE MARTINO is made from organically grown
grapes. It's quite flavorful with really good mineral and acidity and is best
with food. It's not a casual sipping wine. " DE MARTINO and CODEFF together
supporting the conservation of Chilean flora and fauna ". I like this, I like
it a whole lot! Cheers e bravo. It's also available in a dry red blend that we
also carry and have on our shelves. Both are food wines, try them both.

ROSES :

1) Cabernet Franc - 100% -  De Saumur 2011 " La Cabriole " , mis en
bouteille a la propriete/estate-bottled ) from the CAVE DE SAUMUR, Loire
valley, France ( On Special for $10.99 ) is always a great warm-weather
delight. Good color, medium-to-light-bodied, good mineral and acidity with
well-defined accents of spice, too. This is a dry rose to enjoy with a meal as
it will cut through many food flavors and refresh your palate as you eat and
drink. Great value, too. We have had many Loire Valley dry rose Cabernet Francs
and they are usually a minimum of $5 or more a bottle.

2) Costieres De Nimes dry 2011 French rose from the CHATEAU De CAMPUGET (
$12.99, 30% Grenache Noir and 70% Syrah, www.dreyfusashby.com ), this "
Tradition de Campuget " is bone-dry with really great crisp edginess, real
mouth-puckering almost flavors that will be great when you need a steely-dry
medium-bodied rose to cut through some bolder food flavors. That's what it
tasted like a month ago, mind you when Ean and I tasted it together. It may
have softened since then and become more rounded and open and so we will have
to taste it with you all, perhaps this weekend. We will see. It used to be
imported by the Robert Kacher Selections before both parties went their own
ways.

3) " Les Ligeriens " off-dry/fruity French Loire valley rose 2011 ( On
Special for $10.99 , 11% alcohol by volume, bottled by Les Vignerons des
Terroirs de la Noelle ) is one of the few fruity roses that we sell here as
there are not as many requests for this style. This is a perfect example of
this style from France's Loire valley and sure to delight.

REDS :

1) 2010 Cotes Du Rhone DOMAINE De La SOLITUDE dry red blend ($16.99 ) is
fruit-forward and fresh and bright and quite delicious. I just had some down at
Lavandou a month or so ago when I dined there with my college roommate. It was
showing really well with both the lamb and the duck that we ordered.

2) Touriga Nacional an indigenous grape variety widely used in Portugal,
this 2008 GRAND' ARTE ( $16.99, 13.5% alcohol by volume, www.dfjvinhos.com )
Portuguese vinho regional Lisboa was tasted here this past Saturday by our
local rep Danielle. It's a fine food wine, meant to be enjoyed with a flavorful
meal inside or outside. It's made from 100% Touriga Nacional grapes and will
give you a good idea of what the grape tastes like.

3) Chambourcin French hybrid, this 2010 from FABBIOLI CELLARS in
Virginia's Loudoun county ( $18.99, www.fabbioliwines.com, 12% alcohol by
volume ) was planted widely back in the early 70-80's in Virginia and I am glad
to see that owner/winemaker Doug has kept this French hybrid. It's
medium-to-light-bodied, has good spice and acidity and is best with a meal that
fleshes it out. As Doug writes : " Try this with a good marinara sauce or bring
it to a summer cookout ". You may also chill it slightly if you are outside. It
will liven up the flavors as well as ground and focus them. Cheers.

4) Sangiovese ( Brunello Clone , $21.99, 14.9% alcohol by volume, Paso
Robles, California ) is flavorful, hearty, rustic and needs some food to fill
out the flavors. Much like it's Italian inspiration from Tuscany this is a wine
to enjoy with food. We have sold it now for the last five years or so and done
well with it. You should try it soon as it's still a bit cooler. It's more of a
cold-weather wine, although after a grill sitting outside when the sun goes
down and sipping it with some hors d'ouevres would be very pleasing, too.

SPARKLING WINES :

1) Gruner Veltliner Frizzante from ANTON BAUER ( $16.99, 12% alcohol by
volume, ) is from Austria's Osterreich region. It's soft and round and fresh
and lively and bright : very much like an Italian Veneto Prosecco. This is nice
to sip with or without a meal, anytime, really. It's a delight and we are very
pleased to be introducing it to you all now.

2) " Cuvee Imperiale " Clairette de Die " Tradition " ( $21.99, 7% alcohol
by volume, from France's Rhone valley, Die, Drome, France )  is an off-dry,
subtly fruity and delicate that we have sold for years now. The owner himself
has been here at least twice tasting it and we generally sell out each time we
taste it. Tastes like fragrant, silky apricots and nectarines and has mild
overtones of honeysuckle and nuts, too. It's a winner no matter how you cut it.
Try it again as if for the very first time : have childish delight and glee
when you do!

WEEK'S IN-STORE TASTINGS

we will fill you in on what we have decided.

Rediscovering the THIBAUT-JANISSON Virginia Sparkling Wine All Over Again @ The D.C. Restaurant The Iron Gate & At Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits Store In December 2013 With Katie & MIke : Cheers, Happy Holidays 2013 Everyone!!

Katie and Mike came by the store yesterday and I saw Katie holding two bottles of the THIBAUT-JANISSON Virginia sparkling wine in her arms, $32.99 a bottle. I asked her if I could help her? She smiled and said that she had found what she was looking for. She had a very pleased-with-herself look on her face. She went on to explain that she and Mike had recently tried the THIBAUT-JANISSON sparkling Virginia wine at a local restaurant that had been recommended to them and that they had liked it very much indeed. I later discovered that the restaurant was the " newly-reopened " Iron Gate " across from the Tabard Inn : said Katie. I knew it. I had lunch there before and enjoyed the experience. I had also just read about how it had opened again and that it looked very promising indeed. According to Katie and Mike they had thoroughly enjoyed their dining experience, the food , the setting, the service and the wine. That their waiter and the staff had been quite informed and alerted them to the French champagne connection of Claude Thibaut and Manu Janisson. I told them that Claude Thibaut often stopped by himself to our store and that we had been one of the very first stores in D.C. to start selling it years ago in 2007 was it? Mike said that it might have been served to them with Rockfish? I also mentioned to Katie the half bottles and showed her one and she said she would take one! What a great visit, what a fun story, glad to share it with you all. We all have gained from it. Cheers, we have more in stock, come on and try some. Top-flight sparkling wine, local, go green, go Virginia, TOO!  anthony ( TONY ) Quinn 12/13/13

11/25/13 Anthony Quinn's Store Email

Anthony Quinn's Wine Store Email From Late November 2011 In Time For Thanksgiving : How Much Have Things Changed in 2 Years!?!

Cleveland Park Wine Cleveland Park Beer, Liquor & Wine
Featuring a wide, international selection of fine wines, micro-brews and
spirits
THE WHOLE STORE IS A THANKSGIVING compilation of many ideas and subtle
suggestions for you all to try this 2011! We are already being bombarded with
so much Christmas music and I feel that we should wait until this Sunday after
Thanksgiving to be playing it so much. I do love it. I told this to Eon this
morning as we both stocked the shelves and started to get ready for this really
busy week here in Cleveland Park. It was a really fine weekend this past one
and we were busy from start to close thanks to all of you out there with so
many special requests.

WE JUST RECEIVED the JULES TAYLOR wines 2011 New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon
Blanc ( $18.99 ) that just did the top honors - Grand Champion at the Old
Ebbitt Grill Oyster Riot- Fest ( out of hundreds of wines tasted, actually this
year out of 233 submitted - it will be poured by the glass at the Old Ebbitt
Grill for the next six months I believe? ).

WE MET THE WINE-MAKER/owner Jules Taylor perhaps in May 2011 here with our rep
Mark. She has a lovely British accent. We really liked it then and are
delighted to have more of it here to offer you as you come in search of it.
Some of you stopped by last Saturday mentioning this and saying that it
reminded you a lot of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc at a better price. We all like
that, a better price that is : especially when the wine is as good as this 2011
JULES TAYLOR. WE have some in stock now for you all to get with your oysters
... just in time for Thanksgiving.

WE ALSO HAVE FREISA : that's the Italian word for strawberries! It's also the
name for an Italian wine made in the Piemonte region of northwestern Italy by
Frabce and Switzerland. This one is called CAVALLOTTO. It's from the famous
Langhe region: this one called " Bricco Boschis ", it's a 2008 ( $22.99 , 14%
alcohol by volume ). It was just in yesterday's Washington Post Sunday edition
Food section wine article in time for Thanksgiving titled : " What Do You Pair
With Baloney ? " by Dave McIntyre.

DAVE GAVE THE FREISA dry Piemonte CAVALLOTTO red two and a half stars  out of
three and wrote : " This delicious red seems to capture a autumn in a bottle
with earthy, leafy notes and a hint of decay - in a cyclical sense, like a
ferris wheel beginning its descent, sure to come around again. " Sounds like
what I might write. We will open it here and give you all a taste.Probably
later tonight as this email is fresh in your minds having just read it. SO:
Join us tonight for a taste of the indigenous grape Freisa which very few
people know much about as there is not a whole lot of it around. Cheers.

RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN ASKED ABOUT HOLIDAY party wines either to take yourselves
to a party or when you are hosting it. This is what I wrote in response to
those questions earlier today.

WE DON'T HAVE TO ALL BE REDUCED to the least amount of choices. There's plenty
of choices. There always has been. You just have to know where to look for it.
Here are some examples that I will mention here today to show you all just how
much range and flexibility you all really do have. We are always ready and
eager to assist you make your dreams or those of your friends' come true.

YOU CAN BE REALLY PROUD of what you bring / and or serve and it can help really
make your party special and not just a carbon copy of so many others'. You can
stand out just like the wines you serve or you bring.

YOU SIMPLY HAVE TO CHOOSE wisely and go with your gut and heart. You can be a
success beyond imagination and still bring or serve something that is
especially meaningful to you ; and that can be anything and any style, color,
dryness or sweetness, sparkling or not, and sized from bottle to box, from
kitchy and commercial to serious and known labels, from almost any state here
in the U.S., from almost any country.

YOUR WINE CHOICES For Your Parties at UNDER $20 a bottle or box can be kosher,
vegan, biodynamic,  with really low-sulfer content, you name it?!? I know that
we can help you find it whatever it may be.

BE PROACTIVE, don't always wait to the very last minute, give yourselves some
time to do it right. Give others like us a chance to find what is special and
right for you. Profit largely, win grandly with just a bit more time and
planning. You will greatly be rewarded for all of this. Let us help you realize
yours' and others' dreams and have them come true. Cheers.

THIS ALL SOUNDS LIKE ONE BIG PEP TALK. Well it is. I / we need as much as you
all do as this is simply the beginning of the rest of the year and there is a
lot to fill it with. One of our sales reps, for example from the WINEWORKS
Virginia wines of Michael Shaps just got married this past weekend. They are
playing the Pachelbell Canon in C is it( ? ) as I type this and I am wondering
if they played it at their wedding? I love it. Now this is a piece that they
can play before the end of Thanksgiving and that I never tire at hearing.
Lovely. Congratulations to you Allison and your new husband, too. May you
always be blessed, healthy and happy.

BY THE WAY : The Big-Theme American Holiday Wine-Apple Cider-&-Homemade D.C.
Chocolate Tasting last Wednesday was a grand success here. Everything showed
really well and we sold lots but still have lots here and so all that is
recommended for Thanksgiving as well. We are now selling Bailey's handmade
Washington D.C. chocolates and they are in a lovely display up by the register
and they start at $9.99 a bottle. You should try some of them. They are really
special.

THE BEAUJOLAIS THAT FOLLOWED THE NEXT DAY, Thursday was another BIG SUCCESS! We
opened the MANOIR DU CARRA BeaujolaisVillages ( $10.99 ) and Beaujolais Nouveau
bottles ( $9.99 ) : and both showed beautifully. I took a bottle home to my
wife that Thursday night of the Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau ( $10.99 ) and my
wife on the first sip and announced it was " good". That's all I need. Come and
check some out yourselves, it works really well with the meals at this time of
the year. Chill slightly and enjoy fully!

AND FOR THOSE OF YOU NOT WANTING NOUVEAU : we have the BROUILLY " Combiaty "
Vieilles-Vignes " 2007 ( Old Vines ) ( On Special for $15.99, regularly $22.99
). It's a medium-to-light-bodied 100% Gamay grape beaujolais that is a real
treat and ideal with white meats from turkey to goose to chicken and veal and
salmon, too. Lovely. We will open it here this week. Cheers.

FROMM'S : La Strada ( one of three they make ) New Zealand Marlborough Pinot
Noir 2004 ( On Special for $19.99, regularly $44.99 ) is still available and a
wonderful holiday wine. We got the last fifteen cases on Friday and are down to
seven now. Don't delay, get some today! We've already sold 35 cases. It's big,
flavorful, old-world style like the red Burgundy French wines. Best with a
meal, not really a sipping wine. It's pretty darn-gosh amazing with a meal I
will add! Cheers.

TERRABIANCA 2005 " Il Tesoro " Super-Tuscan Italian -young- dry- red -with-
tremendous- promise- still is ON SPECIAL for $33.99, regularly $44.99. IT'S A
BEAUTY, beautiful six-pack cases, and perfect for meals and for gifts. This
100% Merlot is like having a really fine Pomerol from Bordeaux, France. The
bottle is raise/ embossed like the French bottles of Cheateuneuf-du-Pape :
classy. This bottle may be enjoyed now with a meal or to age longer and enjoy
then. Either way it makes a really special gift. Buy a six pack and we will
take 10% off the price and make the bottle cost $30.59. WHAT A DEAL!

A COUPLE OF " New " FRENCH Specials :

1) AOP Cotes Du Rhone Villages 2009( $17.99, 14.5% ) from DOMAINE COSTE
CHAUDE Madrigal is a youthful, robust, hearty mouthful of 70% Grenache and 30%
Syrah. What at a treat.
2) Cotes Du Ventoux 2008 ( $17.99, 14% alcohol by volume ) from the
DOMAINE FONDRECHE / from Fayard has just been given Bob Parker's blessings and
we were lucky to get a couple more cases before it disappeared./ from Fayard.
WE tasted some of this a few months ago down at Lavandou Provencale restaurant
when Bobby Kacher had his portfolio wine-tasting at the Washington Club on
Dupont Circle. It showed really well with Florence's cooking. What a treat. It
will do really well now with the heartier meals, stews and roasts and
cassoulets that we make.
3) Crozes-Hermitage " Le Millepertuis " 2007 ( great vintage ) northern
French wine made from 100% Syrah. Eon and I tried this with the president of
his own company, Jim Reeves. Thanks Jim, this is a really special Syrah that
may be enjoyed now with a meal or cellared for many years!
4) MARSANNY " Clos Du Roy " from the Cote D'Or red Burgundy region, this
young and fresh 2009 ( $34.99 ) is another real steal from Jim Reeves'
portfolio. It's exciting to have it as well as his Crozes-Hermitages. This is,
of course one of the great red burgundy values and made from 100% Pinot Noir by
law. It , too is a great food wine and really fine with turkey and goose and
even wild salmon and much, much more.

EON AND I ALSO DISCOVERED Some Dry Rose and Dry Whites that impressed us
no end :

ROSES :

1) BOXWOOD ESTATE 2010 " Topiary Rose " ( $17.99 ) is a really nice,
complex, sophisticated dry Bordeaux-style rose with a high concentration of
Cabernet Franc. It needs a meal : it's too flavorful to drink all by itself.
That's why if you want to sip the BOXWOOD VINEYARD dry rose you need to , you
need to try the " Boxwood " version for $17.99 that is smoother and silkier and
easier on the palate all by itself.
2) Cotes Du Rhone 2010 Harvest-Dentelle from the DOMAINE ROUGE-BLEU ( a
blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Carignan ) is also a softer easier-to-sip dry
southern French rose. It has a bit more color ( deeper -redder ) than the two
BOXWOOD Virginia, Middleburg dry roses. This is On Special now for $13.99 a
bottle.
3) Cotes-Du-Provence 2010 " Cuvee Tradition " dry biodynamic French rose (
AB certified . 13% alcohol by volume ) from the DOMAINE LES FOUQUES is On
Special for $13.99 a bottle now and showing beautifully! It's a perfect holiday
wine and for this unseasonably warm and balmy weather, too.
4) Dry Virginia rose and Raspberry wine from Leon, Virginia ( $12.99 ) and
made by the RAPIDAN RIVER winery that is now owned by PRINCE MICHEL. This is
quite a bit drier than one would expect, it's not a fruit bomb. As a matter of
fact with a salad using some raspberry vinegar this would be a real treat! You
all should try some. Cheers, it's fun, really it is.

WHITES:

1) Sparkling New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc ( $18.99 ) from LAKE
CHALICE and called " Cracklin' Savie " showed really well this past Saturday
when we tasted it and we sold quite a bit when Paulette poured if for you all.
It's brand new and really tasty, fun and refreshing. I called it a great palate
cleanser. Works for me.
2) Cremant De Biurgogne sparkling " Pur Chardonnay " from France's
Burgundy region ( On Special for $14.99 ), made by BAILLY LAPIERRE is a classic
that we love to sell here and have for years. It's so flavorful and wonderful
and a real special treat, and what a value!
3) Chardonnay Estate-Grown from the Los Carneros region of California (
$14.99 ) is slightly-oaked from EGRET and twice now Eon and I have fallen in
love with it. Classy, tasty, bright, filled to the brim with promise : it's a "
keeper! "

APPLE CIDERS From FOGGY RIDGE :
New and Exciting! WE tasted 4 of them with Dawana at our Big-Theme
American Holiday Tasting.

1) Hard Cider " First Fruit " ( $21.99 ) was my favorite of the four. Just
like Goldilocks I found a place to hang my hat and relax and dream of
everything that awaits me.
2) Hard Cider Sweet Stayman " was simply just a bit too fruit-forward and
rich for me, a bit heavier, too on my tongue and palate. It's all personal
taste of course. We also have the " Serious " that is the dries and the most
tart and tangy. Not enough of a finish for me. They are all 750ml bottles and
all sell for $21.99 a bottle. The Handmade is a also quite nice. It comes in
500ml bottle, 7% alcohol and sells for $16.99 a bottle.
